I was pleased to bring some much-awaited news to the community at Belleville's Westgate Lodge long-term care home on March 18. Our government has committed to fund a 160-bed redevelopment with 72 new beds and 88 upgraded beds. The home's owner/operator, Crown Ridge Health Care Services Inc., is hoping to break ground within the next year. Joining me and Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk are Crown Ridge representatives Greg Freeman and Fred Freeman. For more information, please see my news releases page.
This morning, Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Daryl Kramp and I announced $5,946,200 over four years for Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services to provide community paramedicine to those in our community awaiting long-term care beds. We also had the opportunity to thank our local paramedics for the great work they've been doing with testing and vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From left are Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison, Prince Edward County councillor Janice Maynard, Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk, Hastings County Warden Rick Phillips, myself, MPP Kramp, and Chief Doug Socha.
Quinte West will be receiving a $200,000 Ontario CCTV grant to upgrade video surveillance systems. The funding will allow the local OPP detachment to expand its network beyond the downtown core to help promote a safe community. Joining me are Inspector Christina Reive and Mayor Jim Harrison.
